February fun

February is such fun. We have been making valentines to post in the classroom for some color to spread around. We will enjoy preparing for the party we will enjoy on the 14th.
Of course the 2nd is Groundhog day and we will be having lots of fun with all kinds of groundhog activities. We even have a math sheet doing groundhog addition! What a fun way to learn how to add.
The rest of the month we will be centering on the Presidents Day activities. Yes sir reee! We are bound to have fun this month in Mrs. Kolo's K-1 classroom!

January's Fun

Our K-1 class is having a ball. We practiced cutting with the lines around the face of both George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. Some had to try a couple of times to get it right. We had lots of laughts about that.
We are learning a lot about the animals on the Arctic by comparing our coloring with the pictures of these animals in the books. It is fun and creates lots of conversations and laughter.
We are completing the packet on Martin Luther King. No laughter there, but still lots of conversation.
I'm so glad that we can stay so busy all of the month of January!

Holidays are coming

Wow! it is October already with Thanksgiving just around the corner. We have lots of exciting crafts lined up for the holidays. It is fun to be teaching at this time of year. The small class I have this year is very friendly and energetic. Lots of fun. We are excited about learning and having fun performing our poem to others. What an experience. Trust you are keeping the students reading and listening to books. Have a great holiday season.

Yaa for the May Flowers

This is the time to stop and smell the flowers. Weather is nice enough to be outside and enjoy the evening. Take the time to enjoy your family this month. School is quickly coming to a close. We have had a wonderful year. The students have worked hard and been so well behaved. That is not to say that any of them walk on water, but as a class they have been the best in ten years! Today we enjoyed completing our Mother's Day baskets and put finishing touches to the cards. What fun! We started the day with a cup of ice cream for filling the jar of marbles once again. They enjoyed root beer floats after breakfast. What a delicious way to start the day. As we look forward to summer, please allow time for the students to continue to read, read, and oh yess, read! In between the many books they will be reading, they should be reviewing their math facts. So very important to keep their skills up over the summer so they can shine in the Fall. Have a wonderful time this summer and we will be seeing all of you again in the next school year.

APRIL SHOWERS BRINGS MORE TESTING

Hi Everyone, It is so hard to believe that April comes in this week! With the arrival of Spring also comes the arrival of state testing. We have only two weeks before actually taking the test. Wow! I have rearranged the room so that the students get used to sitting alone to do their lessons. Hopefully, this will help them to be more relaxed during the state Nova tests.
We are completing our unit on the body in the next week or so, and then we visit the beautiful Rain Forest. We will build a paper tree in our room to help us remember the different layers and animals who make up the Rain Forest.
If we have time we will also visit the bottom of the Ocean and discover the beauty of the Coral Reef. That is also a wonderful discovery time. This month will surely be a busy and exciting adventure.

February is Exciting

We are planning lots of fun things this month. We will be having a valentine surprise craft class. That will give each student something extra special to give to their moms for Valentines's Day. Then on that special day we will have a little party to give good wishes to each other and laugh and play. We will also be having our Fun Friday celebrations and that is always interesting to see who gets to come and who is not. Then on President's Day we will celebrate at home with a fun day away from school. Yaa for February.
